Dear Fellow Passionate Media Followers,
Today, I noticed that my group is forgetting to research a very important part of making our film opening which is lighting. Doing a little research on how to make a good film opener, I stumbled across an article, Basic Cinematography Lighting Techniques, by Adorama Learning Center. I put the citation for the article below. This article explained that lighting is crucial in making a film look good and establishing a films tone.
I believe our film is going to use mainly high key light from natural sources. We we not going to use any artificial lighting equipment because the film opening will mainly be shot during the day outside. The only scene we will likely need to use artificial lighting is in the house. We will most likely just use practical lighting from sources such as: a lamp or ceiling lights to light the shots in the house like displayed on the picture below.
Overall, I don’t think lightning is going to be a major issue in the film. I just hope the day we shoot this film it is a sunny day with no clouds in the sky because if there are grey sky's on the day we shoot, we might have to edit the footage in post to make it brighter. All we would probably need to do it increase the exposure on the footage. This task may be a little tedious, but would make the shots look a lot better.
Sincerely,
Matthew Liebman
